Burgher Haus has been owned and operated by Mike and Jane Robertson since 1977. It is located at 1001 W. Buchanan Street near Village Green Shopping Center. This is a popular family restaurant that serves quality food and offers friendly customer service. The buffet is a favorite with different items available daily. The buffet includes salads, vegetables, desserts (including soft serve ice cream), and drink. You can also order from a menu with a selection of sandwiches, chicken, fish, burgers, steaks, etc. You will love their fries, cheese puffs, and onion chips. Burrell Behavior Health is located at 1201 W. Buchanan St., Ste. 6, Village Green Shopping Center. VanDee Miller is the Director of Operations for the California facility. Burrell is part of a growing, integrated Community Health Clinic network of providers, therapists, and case managers that serve over 40,000 clients in 17 Missouri counties. Their staff collaborates with families, schools, healthcare systems, and other networks to provide appropriate care for each situation. The walk-in clinic is open from 8 am- 5 pm Monday- Friday. The team will evaluate and assess client needs and identify appropriate service for that person. They will file insurance information and help with applications for financial assistance. B-W Graphics, Inc. is a full service print shop which was founded by Larry and Rachel Boatright in 1969 in Stover, Mo. In 1975, they moved to 101 Westview, Versailles, Mo. In December 2018 they opened a 2nd location in Marshall, Mo. to better serve their customers in that area. Their son, Wally Boatright, and son-in-law,Terry Croy, later joined the current operation, both serving as operations managers. B-W prides itself in their wide variety of services it offers to their customers and has the tagline “Your One Stop Print Shop!” Originally founded as just a full-color offset printing company they have expanded into offering screen printing, embroidery, signs, banners, trophies/plaques, vehicle graphics, decals, and promotional items. The business has grown with hard work and innovative ideas, to include 11 stores in Northeast and Central Missouri. Brad Friedmeyer and Debbie and Jay VanDieren, operate the business which is open Mon-Fri from 7:30 am to 5 Pm and Sat 8 am to noon. California Construction Supplies offers all items needed to build or remodel homes or buildings. They stock all sizes of lumber, plumbing supplies, roofing, windows and doors, paint, siding, and just about anything else you might need. They provide quality products and courteous service to all their customers. The business was founded by the Friedmeyer family many, many years ago and was located near the Court House until fire destroyed the business. The business has been a generous supporter of the schools, churches, and community events. They have been members of the Chamber for many, many years. In 2010 they were named Business of the Year! CALIFORNIA DEMOCRAT is the local newspaper that is published weekly by Central Missouri Newspapers in Jefferson City. The California office is located at 319 S. High St. and is open Mon- Fri from 8 am to 5 pm. The newspaper was founded in 1858 and is the oldest business in California that is still in operation, celebrating 160 years in 2018. The newspaper provides news of things that happen in the area including community, churches, schools, and businesses. The staff at the Democrat is always willing to help with advertising, writing news articles, taking photos, and following stories of interest. The new editor, Austin Hornbostel, is becoming familiar with the community and we wish him much success at The California Democrat. The California Eagles Aerie 4027 has had a busy year recovering from the fire that destroyed their building in 2018. With the help of many members and the community, they are nearing completion of a new facility on the same ground at 314 N. High. The Fraternal Order of the Eagles is an international non-profit organization, who unite fraternally in the spirit of liberty, truth, justice, and equality, to make human life more desirable by lessening its ills and by promoting peace, prosperity, gladness and hope. The California Eagles have been very generous when helping those in distress and in need during difficult situations such as fires, illness, and injuries. They have a bicycle program, refurbishing bikes for children and adult transportation. The Ladies Auxiliary is very supportive of the organization, as well. Recently, they provided backpacks to the local school to be distributed to children who did not have them. Thank you to the California Eagles Aerie 4027 for your generosity and kindness shown to our community. We are proud to have you as Chamber members! Mr. G’s Liquor was founded on September 15, 1979 by Norris Gerhart as a retail packaged liquor/beer and tobacco store. Congratulations on the 40th Anniversary of the business! Mr. G’s is owned & operated by Norris and Lesley Gerhart. Son-in-law Quinn Hindman, Manager, is married to their daughter, Melissa. Norris’ future plans are to keep the business in the family. Norris and Lesley have four children Courtland, Melissa, Jason, and Chris and they are “soon to be” grandparents! Norris says “We are proud to be a part of this community for 40 years—but without the support of our customers we could never have made it. Thank you, California”. The California Area Chamber of Commerce is proud to have had Mr. G’s Liquor as a member for a very long time. Norris has served on the board for many, many years and has been instrumental in helping the Chamber make improvements to the community that have made California a great place to live and work. Norris was Citizen of the Year in 2004 and Mr. G’s was honored as Business of the Year in 2016. In 2012-2013, Norris served as Chamber President.
